pictures. [26 Aug 2007|01:45am]

I know it's a long shot, but if any of you have any pictures of the vendor area - booths, workers, etc (NOT LiveNation crew, security, or food workers) - can you post them in comments to this here or direct me to a place to view them? We are all very curious as to what everyone else's look like :)

Ozzfest August 16th 2007 [19 Aug 2007|02:50am]

A man was carried off by security at Ozzfest on Thursday.

Two men died and 83 people were arrested on Thursday at the Ozzfest concert in Holmdel, N.J., as the New Jersey State Police have stepped up security at the PNC Bank Arts Center to combat under-age drinking.

Music Review | Ozzfest: Stoking Metal’s Fire in the Heat of Summer (August 18, 2007)

Raymond Guarino, 26, of Forked River, N.J., and Patrick Norris, 24, of Coram, N.Y., collapsed at the concert and both suffered cardiac arrest. They were pronounced dead at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel. Friends of the men said that they had taken cocaine, marijuana and alcohol, said Sgt. Stephen Jones, a police spokesman.

The police have made a total of 229 arrests at concerts at the center over the last week, including Ozzfest. Most on Thursday were for under-age drinking, with some for drugs and disorderly conduct; 18 of those arrested were under the age of 18. Under-age drinking in the parking lot has been a persistent problem at the center, and yesterday the police banned alcohol in the parking lot but said that patrons could still buy it inside, where vendors can check for identification.

Live Nation, which books concerts at the center, said in a statement yesterday that it would cooperate with the authorities, but that patrolling the parking lot was not its responsibility.

“Although we do not have jurisdiction over the parking lot,” the statement said in part, “we fully support the decision of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and State Police to ban alcohol on the parking lot premises.”

State Assemblywoman Amy H. Handlin, a Republican whose district includes the arts center, has been pushing for tighter enforcement of alcohol laws since a Gwen Stefani concert there in May at which more than a dozen people under 21 were taken to hospitals for alcohol-related illnesses. She said she had written a letter earlier this week to the state police, the Turnpike Authority and Live Nation, urging them to take greater steps to keep young people from drinking.

“Vigorous law enforcement is necessary but not sufficient,” Ms. Handlin said, “and to make a dent in the under-age drinking issue will take intensive community education as well as parental reinforcement.”

While deaths are not unheard of at large rock festivals, they are unusual at outdoor spaces like the PNC Bank Arts Center, which opened in 1968 as the Garden State Arts Center and has a capacity of 17,500. A spokesman for the Turnpike Authority said that the two deaths on Thursday, when attendance was just over 13,000, were believed to be the center’s first.

Nate Schweber contributed reporting.

This is what I have to say about this... I think people are idiots & they fucking ruin everything! A friend of mine was kicked in the face & it ruined he & another friend of mine's time because they had to go home. I can't understand why people can't go to concerts & just enjoy themselves instead of hurting themselves & others. I think people who OD by accident at concerts are assholes too. I also think cops ruin everything. The security at Ozzfest were a bunch of douchbags. We were treated like garbage & I am never going back to PNC Arts Center for another show.

Ozzfest Etiquette [15 Aug 2007|11:01pm]

[ mood | mellow ]

So this is my second year woeking as a vendor on Ozzfest. I've worked several other tours in the past few years, and I've come to observe things about you, the concert-goers, that I feel I need to share.

First and foremost: For 90% of you, this year's show is/was FREE. You are seeing Ozzy fucking Osbourne for NOTHING. Therefore:

a) DO NOT bitch about paying for parking. Yes, $20 is pretty steep (moreso for you midwesterners than the east/westcoasters where that's expected). Park in Walmart down the road and pile 10 people into your ratty old pickup truck. That way, everyone only owes $2.
b) DO NOT bitch about the price of beer/booze. If you're smart, you'd down 5 shots of Jager in the parking lot before you came in to get your buzz started, or you'd fill a water bottle with vodka/clear rum. Beer and booze is going to be a MINIMUM of $6 a glass.
c) DO NOT try to haggle the vendors to drop their tshirt prices. We are all on the whole tour, so YES - that tshirt with the "shocker" on it that you think is oh-so-hilarious is still going to be $20 at 11:00.  (On that note: none of us are going to sell you our banners, either). Exception: Buy us a shot/beer and we may come to a deal with you.
d) Don't hit on the vendors (unless you're a cute girl and the vendor's a guy). As for us girls: drunken flirting will not get you free stickers. None of us are going to go home with you. And really, unless you're superfuckinghot (which, by the way, is not a beer-belly, swastika tattoo, and snaggletooth combination, contrary to what you may think) we're rarely going to even acknowledge your pervy comments.
e) The show is free - NOTHING ELSE IS. BRING CASH. Most of the vendors take credit cards, too. Don't whine about being broke.
f) DO NOT try and steal shit from our tables. You will be punched several times by several angry men, taken to the police, punished accordingly, and escorted out of the venue with a bloody lip.
g) It's probably a good idea to bring a backpack/messenger bag of some kind to carry things around in. You'll end up leaving with more than you came in with.
h) Your comments are not original; we've heard it all. Sorry to burst your bubble, but asking for "free samples" at the I %hearts; Vagina booth is not funny, cute, or original - it's super fucking lame, annoying, and makes us want to chuck a fucking brick at your skull. Same goes for asking the Chronic Candy guys if you can buy pot off of them.

and last, but not least:
please, for the love of god, if you are not in decent physical shape, keep your damned clothes on and spare us the eyesores.

whew. feels good to vent :p

Thanks to everyone who's been semi-human throughout the tour so far. As for the northeast: let's suck a little less than, say, Kansas, Missouri and Indiana... haha.

~your friendly Vagina salesgirl :)

Opening Day tickets for trade [22 Jun 2007|03:41pm]

I have tickets for White River Amphitheatre in Seattle on July 12th. GA2, seats 627 and 628.

The only problem is if I take that day off work I lose my job.

Does anyone with July 14th Gorge tickets want to trade with me?

I would be eternally grateful, and I really don't want my tickets and/or job to go to waste

I'm not looking to make a profit, I just really want to finally get a chance to go to Ozzfest this year. And I NEED to keep my job.

If you're willing to make the trade (or even give me one ticket for my two), please comment on this or email me at denim_ninja@hotmail.co.uk

[ mood | excited ]

I got offered to write about an article (sort of a preview) about Ozzfest for the Potomac News (it will be feature on the website as well as Manassas website too!)

I'm excited. First time being published. They want me to write about what to expect this year at Ozzfest. I went the past few years so I know about the prices of concessions and things like that. Any other ideas would be helpful, like contests that you know about, souvenirs, what to bring/what not to bring, etc.

Pit tickets for Bristow, VA [20 Jul 2006|01:00pm]

[ mood | stoked ]

Greetings and salutations.  I'm new to this community so I thought I'd make a quick post.
This year will be the first that I go to Ozzfest (though I'm sad about missing previous ones...particularly '99...but we won't speak of that) and I over-zealosly bought 3 sets of tickets to three different tourdates.  Long and short of it is this:  I can make it to Toronto and I can make it to New York City....but I can't get time off work to drive/fly down to the August 6th date in Bristow, Virginia.
I thought I would post a bit of an 'ad' about this set of tickets because, as I live in Canada, I won't even be able scalp the tickets

Soooo.    Who needs or knows someone who needs:
2 (actual) G.A. Pit tickets for August 6th in Bristow, Virginia at the Nissan Pavillion
I purchased originally through ticketmaster online for $298 USD after service charges, taxes and bullshit.

I'm not trying to make a profit ... I just want to sell them and offer someone a chance to enjoy the verrry limited moshpit area.

I will probably put them on ebay so message me with an offer  or reply if you have any interest.

A couple of questions about Camden Ozzfest [15 Jul 2006|11:33pm]

[ mood | curious ]

Hey, just two questions.

1) Does anybody know where set times are being posted for Ozzfest this year, or if they're being posted at all. I have to work the day of Ozzfest, and I'm trying to see what the absolute latest time I can be there without missing the bands I really love is.

2) Is Ozzy headlining the first or second stage at the Tweeter Center? Ozzfest.com has him headlining the main stage, but blabbermouth.net, and two other sites I can't remember right now have him headlining the second stage. Anybody know?

Thanks in advance.

Ozzfest 2006 radio show [14 Jul 2006|12:46am]

Just wanted everyone to know, that later today (Friday) I'll be doing my Ozzfest 2006 radio show (just in time for the Detroit Ozzfest)! The radio show is called High Voltage!

I'll be playing ALL the bands on this year's Ozzfest, many I'll play more than once, plus some new albums from the bands on it (SYL, All That Remains, etc).

It starts 2pm Eastern Time (1pm Central/12pm Mountain/11am Pacific/not sure on other times around the world). It will run until 3:30pm, then restart at 4pm...reread that if you just got confused :)

You can listen live online at http://www.wxou.org or 88.3fm if around the Auburn Hills Michigan area

please help [10 Jul 2006|05:35pm]

on the ozzfest website it says "buy 3, get 1 free", i click the link and it takes me to ticket master which says nothing about receiving a free ticket.

Has anyone bought 3 tickets on ticket master and received 1 for free? If so, do you have to buy a certain price ticket through ticket master?

For Everyone and Anyone [30 Jun 2006|07:38pm]

OZZFEST 2006: Somerset Show Cancelled Due To Low Ticket Sales? [15 Jun 2006|09:37am]

The July 14 Ozzfest 2006 date, originally scheduled to take place at the Float-Rite Park in Somerset, Wisconsin, has reportedly been cancelled, apparently due to "low ticket sales." However, it should be noted that this information has not yet been confirmed by the Ozzfest organizers, who are still listing the show on the Ozzfest.com web site.

bark at the moon

[19 May 2006|08:18am]

So now that the full line up is this:

Ozzy Osbourne
System of a Down
Avenged Sevenfold
Lacuna Coil
Black Label Society
Bleeding Through
Norma Jean
Walls of Jericho
The Red Chord
A Life Once Lost
Strapping Young Lad
All That Remains
Full Blown Chaos
Between the Buried and Me
Bad Acid Trip

I can finally sleep at night. But now I've got another problem.

I burn "preview discs" every year for me and friends who are going so we can hype ourselves up. But since Dragonforce has to be such a damn epic band and write 7 minute songs. I don't have room for them. Meaning I'm gonna have to adjust my already track list, and switch songs around and pick shorter tunes just to accomidate for the. Which I think is BS.
